Skelligs-House oder –View ist ein Haus für bis zu acht Personen		Skelligs-House or –View accommodates up to eight people.


Skelligs House hat vier Schlafzimmer, drei Bäder, ein Wohnzimmer, eine Küche (mit allem, was man so braucht und ein bisschen mehr), einen Hauswirtschaftsraum und einen wunderschönen Wintergarten. Von hier aus hat man, selbst wenn es am Abend etwas kühler wird, den wunderbaren Ausblick, den die Bilder versuchen, wiederzugeben.		Skelligs House has got four bedrooms, three baths, a living room, a kitchen – where one finds hardly anything to desire, a utility and last but not least, the most beautiful conservatory. (A friend of ours who had difficulties with the term used to call them “aquariums for old people” but I assure everyone – young people will like it there too.


Nur etwas mehr als 8km entfernt ist die nächste "Blue Flag Beach" (Eine von der EU vergebene Auszeichnung der saubersten Küsten und Gewässer) bei Ballinskelligs. Dort sind auch eine Gaststätte, das Postbüro und ein Lebensmittelladen.		Just a little more than 5 miles from the beautiful "Blue Flag Beach" (European award for exceptionally clean beaches and very clean waters) at Ballinskelligs, and from the local pub, Restaurant, Post Office and Grocery Store of Ballinskelligs.


Ich habe mir das Haus Anfang Juni 2008 zum ersten Mal angesehen und war sofort begeistert. Es ist ein helles, geräumiges, freundliches Haus mit spektakulärer Aussicht.		When I first saw the house in the beginning of June 2008 I was enthused right away. It is a bright, spacious, friendly house with spectacular views.


Es liegt nahe des Ring of Skelligs, der in meinen Augen sogar noch viel schöner ist, als der Ring of Kerry. Sehr viel kleiner, sehr viel irischer und das Beste, Busse dürfen ihn nicht befahren.		Located near the Ring of Skelligs, which for me is even nicer than the Ring of Kerry, it overlooks the Atlantic and the Skelligs (Here Skellig Michael). The Ring of Skelligs is much smaller, much more Irish and - best of all - no buses can go on it.


Vor Bolus Head liegt die Insel Skellig Michael (vom gälischen Sceilig Mhichíl – Michaels Felsen), die auch unter dem Namen Great Skellig bekannt ist, beherbergt eines der bekanntesten, jedoch auch am schwersten zugänglichen mittelalterlichen Klöster Irlands.		Skellig Michael (from Sceilig Mhichíl in the Irish language, meaning Michael's rock), also known as Great Skellig, is a steep rocky island about 15 kilometers west of the coast of County Kerry, Ireland. It is the larger of the two Skellig Islands.

Es wurde im Jahr 588auf der steilen, felsigen Insel, die etwa 15 Kilometer von der Küste Kerrys entfernt liegt, gebaut. Skellig Michael ist etwa 17Hektar groß, der höchste Punkt liegt mit 289 Metern an der Südspitze. In fast gleicher Höhe befindet sich auch die kleine Mönchssiedlung, die über fast 600 Stufen einer Steintreppe ohne Geländer mit atemberaubenden Ausblicken erreichbar ist.		For 600 years the island was an important centre of monastic life for Irish Christian monks. An Irish Celtic monastery, which is situated almost at the summit of the 289-metre-high rock, was built in 588, and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. It is one of Europe's better known but least accessible monasteries.

Die spartanischen Bedingungen innerhalb der Klosteranlage zeigen die asketische Lebensweise der frühen irischen Christen. Die Mönche lebten in steinernen „Bienenkorb-Hütten“, die an die fast senkrechten Klippen gebaut sind.		Since the extreme remoteness of Skellig Michael has until recently discouraged visitors, the site is exceptionally well preserved. The very Spartan conditions inside the monastery illustrate the ascetic lifestyle practiced by early Irish Christians. The monks lived in stone 'beehive' huts (clochans), perched above nearly vertical cliff walls.

Das Wohnzimmer zum Feuer hin und vom Feuer weg fotografiert.

Sieht so aus, als hätte der Fotoapparat geschummelt. Hat er aber nicht. Ich hatte nur bei dem oberen Bild die Sessel vor das Feuer geschoben.

Looks like the camera was cheating. But the solution is much simpler. For the first picture I moved the chairs in front of the open fire place and then back again.

Die Küche hat wirklich vom Geschirr bis zur Mikrowelle alles, was man braucht.
